Lack Of Evidence Could Set Free 16-Year-Old Teenager Accused With Murder Of His Parents

A 16-year-old Houston teenage boy charged with murdering his mom and dad in their house in southwest Houston could be set free into a grandmother's custody. After 90 days in custody, the teen could release as the defense and prosecution are both waiting for a lot more proofs to help decide if the teenager can accuse as a grown up.

On July 29, Houston authorities reported that Antonio Armstrong and wife, Dawn Armstrong a 16-year-old youth gun fired and murdered his parents, former NFL football player, last July 29 in their house at Southwest Houston. However, the teenager denied the accusation, claiming that he caught sight of a masked guy in the room at the moment of the firing, the People Crime has learned.

The teenager's attorney announced that the judge considered the idea of probably freeing the teen into his grandmother's custody. "The problem is it's been 90 days since he's been sitting in detention. We're still waiting for evidence to come in," abc13 Eyewitness News quoted Defense attorney Rick DeToto as saying. He added that the some of the stuff that is coming in and some of the stuff that they are finding out tend to point away from the teen.

However, the grandmother has to think of schooling and parenting plan for the approval of the judge before the teenager be able to be release to them. The youth will return on Nov. 8 for the next hearing to know whether the judge approves or not the teen's official release.

Attorneys claimed that it would take three to six months before the court could make a final decision about whether to qualify the teenager as a grown up. If they trained the youth as a grown up, the attorney said the teen would face life imprisonment with parole endowment after 40 years.
