Florida Mom Shocked Over $7,000 Bill Despite Giving Birth In Their Jeep, Asks Why Hospital Charges For Labor And Delivery

A Florida mother successfully gave birth to her baby girl in their Jeep Grand Cherokee outside of the Boca Raton Regional Hospital in April this year. However, the mother was arguing about the fact that she was handed a $7,000 bill with the charges for labor and deliver despite doctors or nurses not being around initially.

The mother, identified as Paula D' Amore, gave birth to her daughter Daniella and her husband caught the baby's head before a midwife and a number of nurses came to help with the complete delivery. D'Amore said in a statement that she was shocked when the bill was given to her months later and believed that the charges were unfair since she delivered her baby while their car was parked outside of the hospital.

D'Amore noted that she believes that kind of amount would apply to a woman who gave birth in a hospital bed and labored for a number of hours, Yahoo reported. The mother added that she was not admitted in the hospital until she delivered the placenta. She noted the bill given to her is ridiculous.

Aside from the delivery bill, D'Amore is also furious over the $4,000 NICU bill given to her. She claims that her daughter was only admitted because a nurse contaminated her blood sample, Daily Mail reported.

Boca Raton Regional Hospital said in a statement following the dispute of D'Amore that they think the medical services and care provided to her and her baby were in proportion with the bill given to the Florida mother. The full fee for the complex vaginal delivery of D'Amore's baby was specified in the bill.

The hospital pointed out that they provided additional resources by sending three nurses and a nurse midwife to the parking lot in order to assist in the delivery of the baby girl. D'Amore said that two of the three nurses only held up sheets in the parking lot.

Despite the argument with the bill, D'Amore says that eventually she might just accept the charges so she set up a payment plan. She, however, believes that the hospital should apologize.
