With all the speculations rising about "Sherlock", Steven Moffat and Benedict Cumberbatch released their statements in separate interviews. According to reports, both teased about "Sherlock" Season 4 to be the last there is.

The television writer and producer most known as "Sherlock's" showrunner, Steven Moffat, revealed that "Sherlock's" season 4 could be the final run. Moffat told Telegraph how willing he is to continue the movie but also admits that it is not up to him anymore. However, he shared "Sherlock's" potential to retain the show's setup, go off for years, and air back again.

On the other hand, "Sherlock's" lead actor, Benedict Cumberbatch, relayed the news indirectly during his interview with GQ magazine. Rumors about the end of the America-British crime flick, "Sherlock", started when Cumberbatch talked about an "end of an era" during the interview. Also, Cumberbatch revealed that the show's cast, crew, and producers may find it challenging to come up with a protraction after "Sherlock" Season 4 finale.

Cumberbatch recently clarified the speculation as a misunderstanding. He shared how they love doing the movie and that his original statement meant "Sherlock" Season 4 to be the last one 'for now'.

Another speculation about "Sherlock" is the synopsis of season 4, episode 2, wherein Benedict Cumberbatch's character, Sherlock, will persuade everyone that he is dying which could possibly be a good turning point for the show's ending. Episode 2, entitled "The Lying Detective" was said to adapt "The Dying Detective", another piece by Arthur Doyle.
