Samsung W2017 Flip Phone 2016 Update: High-end Android Powered Clamshell Design Phone Officially Debuts With Impressive Specs And Features

Samsung is back again with an Android flip phone. Almost a year after unveiling the W2016 high-end Android-powered flip phone in China, Samsung has once again brought a similar device into the market. To no one's surprise, it is called W2017. There were various rumors and speculations about this model since a long time. Samsung announced the release of the phone in the Chinese market.

W2017, to mirror the W2016, comes top of the line specs. It is all packed into a compact design. The flip phone was a very popular design many years ago. The W2017 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820. It has a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage expandable via microSD.

The mobile has two touchscreens. One is inside and the other one outside. These screens are 4.2-inch 1080p Super AMOLED touchscreens. The main camera of the flip phone is 12 MP f/1.9 unit with 4K video recording support. For the selfie lovers the phone has good news. Selfies are taken care of by a 5 MP snapper on the front. The phone works on 4G networks. It has a 2,300 mAh battery. The phone has a metal frame. Its dimensions are 127.8 x 61.4 x 15.8 mm, and it weighs 208g, reported GSM Arena.

Security aspect of the flip phone includes a fingerprint scanner. It has an 'Always On Display' and fast wireless charging support. The operation system is the smooth Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The W2017 will be released in China soon. It is possible that the phone will be confined to the China market only. This is anticipated based on what happened to W2016, reported TechTimes.

There is no official announcement that has been made with regard to the pricing of the phone. However, it is expected to be around CNY 20,000. This translates to $2,953 or €2,661 currently. When W2016 released last year, it had cost CNY 9,999 ($1,476 or €1,330).
