NBA Latest News: Chris Paul Is Now The All-Time Assist Leader Of Clippers But Can He Ever Lead His Team To A Title Shot?

The Los Angeles Clippers is playing excellent basketball to start the 2016-2017 NBA season and Clips fans have something to look forward to as their All-Star point guard, Chris Paul became the new franchise all-time leader in assists with 3,502 and surpassed Randy Smith who is also one of the great players in the league who played for the Clippers, via NBA.com.

Chris Paul aka "CP3" lead his team with a double-double, scoring 27 points, dishing out 11 assists and snatching 6 steals last Friday in a convincing win against the slumping Memphis Grizzlies. For setting the new franchise record in assists in that game, Paul felt good and said that he has the easiest job on the floor. He just needs to pass the ball to his open teammates. However, he said it goes both ways, he must be able to put the ball in his teammates' hands at the right time and they've got to make the shot.

Paul, one of the best guards in the league is now entering his 6th season with the Los Angeles Clippers and isn't getting any younger. Together with his co-stars DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin, the trio made an incredible team that people believed would move farther than just the 2nd round of the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Clips never went to any Western Conference finals since Chris Paul joined the team, according to Bleacher Report.

Critics think that this will be the last opportunity for Chris Paul to do something special for his beloved Clippers. His and Blake Griffin's contract will be expiring at the end of the season and the Clips may lose 2 of their all-star players through free agency and walk out without getting any in return.

The clock is already ticking for the Clippers and their leader Chris Paul. In a report by CBS Sports, Chris Paul is an excellent player and will go down as one of the best point guards in the history of the NBA but as time goes as well as his skills starts to decline, critics believe that Paul will be remembered as one of the greats that never won a championship, never had a shot and never got over the hump to reach an NBA finals.

For more than a decade, CP3 has consistently showcased a high level of competitiveness and leadership. Paul can still lead his team and the whole league in terms of individual stats, he can still provide stellar performances for the Clips to help them reach the playoffs and the whole organization still believes in him.
