‘Chocobo Racing' is Back! An Overview of ‘Final Fantasy XV’s ‘Chocobo Racing’ Gameplay

A "Chocobo Racing" footage in "Final Fantasy XV" is currently circulating the web. The 1:05 video looks amazing and is probably included in the upcoming "Final Fantasy XV."

IGN uploaded the "Chocobo Racing" video last November 3, 2016, with the following description: "Watch Noctis and company race against each other with their feathered friends." However, there was no story about the "Chocobo Racing," or any other information, just the video.

"Chocobo Racing" is a mini game in "Final Fantasy VII" and "Final Fantasy XIV" that involves breeding, feeding, and racing Chocobos caught in the wild. The mini game became so popular that after two years, the "Chocobo Racing" stand-alone game for the PS1 was released.

Raising and breeding Chocobos for a competition is a tricky process. In "Final Fantasy VII", catching a Chocobo requires a specific item called the "Carob Nut" that the player can steal from a creature called "Vlakorados," with an HP of 33,333. The second option is buying the item in the Chocobo Farm.

This process involves hours of training and requires specific items or snacks in order to achieve the desired outcome by the player. Some examples of these items based on the "Final Fantasy XIV" list are the following: "Curiel Root" that will increase the "Companion EXP UP," "the Sylkis Bud" for "Companion Attack Up," the "Mimett Gourd for "Healing Potency Up," the "Tantaplant" for "Maximum HP Up," and the "Pahasna Fruit" for "Companion Enmity UP." All of these items can also be obtained through gardening, and these snacks once fed to a Chocobo will determine the color of its feather.

A rank system is another metric the player needs to improve during this process, with 20 being the highest. Chocobo's reaching Rank 10 will require a type snack called the "Thavnairian Onion" if the player wants a rank upgrade for his Chocobo.

Raising Chocobo and racing them is very time-consuming. The player needs to invest a lot of hours just to get used to it. But these are going to be hours well spent once the rewards and benefits start flowing in from the "Chocobo Racing" mini game.
