New Rogue One TV Spot: Exciting X-Wing Footage and Scenes of Jyn Erso Rallying Troops

A new TV spot for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has revealed additional X-Wing action. The much-awaited spin-off from the Star Wars franchise is kicking into high gear with teasers and other juicy bits from the film. The latest TV spot also shows the character Jyn Erso, played by Felicity Jones, rallying the mercenary troops.

CinemaBlend.com says the short clips evoke classic Star Wars feels. The rousing pep talk from Erso is interspersed with footage showing X-Wings, a trademark Star Wars vehicle.  The site also reported at least two battles figuring X-Wings in the movie Rogue One, "including both the beach planet and another on the dark rock filled world."

The clips also show brief shots of the Death Star in the background while the mercenaries, led by Jyn

Erso, battle it out with stormtroopers.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is helmed by director Gareth Edwards. It is the first Star Wars film that pursues a storyline outside of the Solo and Skywalker bloodlines. Rogue One is the first Star Wars film to not follow the tales of the Skywalkers and Solos but does include Bail Organa, Darth Vader and Mon Mothma. The sheer size of the Star Wars mythology allows this movie to weave new stories and continue to hold even the most hardcore Star Wars fans. Throw in great effects and cinematography and you know why it's one of the most highly-anticipated films of the decade.

HollywoodLife.Com gives a summary of the clip: "The footage opens with an ominous shot of the Death Star. 'The Empire's building a terrible weapon,'  we hear Felicity Jones' character, Jyn Erso, says in a voiceover, clearly addressing a group of people she needs to convince to fight the Empire. Then we see Jyn shrouded in tattered rags hiding in the streets of a village, as Stormtroopers walking by and are shot by who we can only assume are some awesome members of the Rebellion."

The next scenes show the famed X-Wing fighters shooting at the Empire's space crafts while Jyn talks to other rebels. "I need your help. We can stop them. This is your chance to make a real difference. We shall have hope. Rebellions are built on hope. Are you with me?" Jyn says to a room full of onlookers. "All the way," a member of the crowd says

Rogue One: A Star Wars will screen in theaters across the globe on December 16, 2016.
