The Mannequin Challenge, another internet fad has taken the web by storm. Much like the previous challenges, people are starting to go gaga about the new internet challenge. If you happen to see clips on social media containing people striking a pose and frozen with a hip-hop song in the background, then you have just been hit by the Mannequin Challenge.

According to a report from the Inside Edition, this trend started from a group of students from Jacksonville, Florida who was thinking of a way to kill time. Since then, people from across the globe started to join in. The mechanics of the challenge is easy, you just have to strike a pose and hold it as long as you possibly can.

This has gotten so popular that even celebrities and other known personalities are playing along just like the cast of "Dancing with the Stars." On a video posted via Instagram, some cast and crew of the show are seen in different poses and frozen in time until all at the same time the group let's go of their positions and starts to dance.

"Destiny's Child also participated in the challenge and posted their video via Kelly Rowland's Instagram account. While a Rae Sremmurd song is playing in the background, they jumped in and also made their own rendition. The video was then posted on Twitter getting thousands of retweets soon after it was uploaded.

Meanwhile, on an article published by the International Business Times, it seems that the internet craze got more popular as College and Professional Sports teams joined in the fun. In celebration of their victories, the New York Giants, Clemson Tigers, and the Dallas Cowboys made their own version of the Mannequin Challenge.

While it is true that internet fads die as fast as it rose, as long as people keep joining the bandwagon, the Mannequin Challenge is here to stay for long. It looks like the high school students from Jacksonville, Florida found a fun way to kill boredom after all.
