Dad Who Posted Picture Of A Daughter Crying Out In Pain On Her Hospital Bed Defends Himself From Social Media Judgment

A picture of a 4-year old cancer patient went viral on social media because of the dificult situation of the little girl while suffering. The author of the posts insists it needed to be seen by many for some perfect reasons that he believes. This person happens to be the dad of the patient.

Andy Whelan, 30, captioned the image saying "The real face of cancer." Jessica Whelan, 4, was the object in the picture where she was slowly struggling in pain. Such image was taken when the parents of Jessica were seemingly incapable of doing anything to comfort the child, as reported in The Sun.

It was when little Jessica was pushing her parents away before fast-acting morphine took effect onto her body. Andy and wife Nicki did not know what else to do but to just suffer from the agony of seeing their child suffering from an unbelievable pain.

The pictures gathered more than half a million people in just 24 hours, attracting thousands of reactions online. Some netizens did not like the gesture from Andy, because to some extent, some of them think that it is a sort of exploitation the minor by making her pictures public. The agonizing dad, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, later defend himself even if he did not plan to.

:"I battled with myself: should we share this?", Andy told in an interview with Daily Mail."But I knew it needed to be seen. So many photos show smiling bald children in hospital wards surrounded by Santas, actors, and celebrities, their happy faces full of hope, which is uplifting." He added.

Some expressed sympathy to Andy and Nicki for having such a little situation in life today. It is not easy to see Jessica to have such a great battle at her early age.

Andy's intention will always be judged as it is not possible to please all people especially in the social media. But for Andy, Jessica's pain under child cancer is real. His pain as a dad is real as well. That is all he wanted to tell the world to see how hard it is to be in such situation.
