In a recent interview with Nerdist, series creator Julie Plec admitted that she hopes to see more of the show beyond the fourth season.

"My hope is either that it doesn't affect it at all or if anything, it makes 'The Originals' a playground of opportunity to see some of these characters again," she said.

Plec was also optimistic that the "TVD" Season 8 cancellation helped "The Originals" Season 4 with its timing. However, the series creator teased on a possible crossover before the predecessor ends on air.

"The Originals" Season 4 spoilers tease on the possible addition of some vampires from Mystic Falls to join New Orleans. However, this would all be dependent on whether or not The CW will renew the show afterwards.
