Samsung Latest News: Galaxy S8 To Increase Display Screen Size To Attract Note 7 Users? 'Optical Fingerprint Scanner' Replacement For Home Button?

It's a given fact that most, if not all Samsung devices look and feel the same. Except for the Edge and in the slightest, the Note series, Samsung's Galaxy line is designed out of habit, and to instill a familiar and long-standing impact to consumers. Today, the South Korean might just give an upcoming Smartphone a familiar whiff of the notorious Galaxy Note 7.

Android Authority recently reported that Samsung is thinking of slapping the Galaxy S8 with a bigger screen in an effort to "attract fans" of the Note 7. This too is in proper forum when Slash Gear said that the S8 will host a near bezel-less display or something that would take up to 90% of the device's facade. On the other hand, the supposed move by Samsung is quite practical since a lot of users prefer phablets over the conventional-sized handset.

Previously, the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge variant measured in at 5.1inch and 5.5inch, respectively. The Note 7, which Samsung canceled due to fire hazards, had a 5.7inch display screen. If Samsung wants a bigger S8, then it should play north of the Note's measurement up to around 6inches. Admittedly, sources are also saying that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will come in a 5.7inch and a massive 6.2inch display variants.

There are also speculations that the Galaxy S8 will have an Edge variant considering that the S7 Edge "proved popular than the flat version." Another is that Samsung is planning to carry the "Plus" suffix and use it to name the S8's larger display version. If they are to pursue the rumors, Samsung might need to remove its physical home button, which also serves as a fingerprint scanner. Instead, the Galaxy S8 could use an "optical fingerprint scanner" that will be fitted "under the seamless glass front display" of the unit. This will give Samsung enough real estate to stretch the S8's screen, which is also said to be in 4K resolution.
