'The Simpsons' Prophesized Donald Trump's Win In 2016 Presidential Elections 16 Years Ago

"The Simpsons" did it again, and this time, America can consider this an eerie warning. Sixteen years ago, the cult favorite animated series from Fox predicted Donald Trump's triumph and last night, it happened as 2016 Presidential elections capped off with the Republican Presidential nominee winning over Hillary Clinton.

Variety reports that the prophetic "The Simpsons" episode aired on March 19, 2000, titled "Bart in the Future" as part of "The Simpsons" Season 11. Bart travels through time only to find out that his future ahead is lame while his sister, Lisa, has become the very first straight female president of the United States.

The prescient "The Simpsons" episode has featured a fictionalized Donald Trump as he exits the White House, with U.S. gravely being an indebted nation. As her business-minded predecessor steps down the Oval Office, Lisa inherits the fiscal crisis that developed within Donald Trump's term.

On Nov. 8, Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, succeeded in the 2016 U.S. Presidential elections albeit losing in the popularity vote, according to Los Angeles Times. His Democrat counterpart, Hillary Clinton, already receded.

The writer of "The Simpsons," Dan Greany, told The Hollywood Reporter in March that this 16-year-old prediction must be taken by the U.S. citizens as a warning. "And that just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom," Greany said. "It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane."

This is not the first time that "The Simpsons" predicted the future. As Time reports, "The Simpsons" also prophesized that Bengt Holstrom of Massachusetts Institute of Technology would bag the coveted Nobel Prize as aired in one "The Simpsons" episode in 2010. The Finnish economist eventually did just this year.

Moreover, "The Simpsons" predicted Roy Horn of Siegfried and Roy being attacked by a white tiger, and even predicted modern Apple products including the Apple watch.
