'The Leftovers' Season 3 Teaser & Updates: Justin Theroux, Ann Dowd, Margaret Qualley & Jasmin Savoy Brown Move On To New Projects

"The Leftovers" Season 3 is in the middle of post-production and it is expected that a new teaser will be released soon. With filming done for the series finale, the cast has moved on to other projects.

"The Leftovers" lead actor Justin Theroux has immediately jumped onto his next project with the movie "Mute," now that his work on the HBO show is done. He will be working alongside Paul Rudd and Axlander Skarsgard in the sci-fi thriller, which will be directed by Duncan Jones, Variety reports.

Ann Dowd, who played an unforgettable character in "The Leftovers," has joined the cast of "The Handmaid's Tale" with Elisabeth Moss, Joseph Fiennes and Yvonne Strahovski. The 10-episode series, which is an adaptation of the dystopian novel from Margaret Atwood, will be streaming on Hulu, Deadline reports.

Justin Theroux's daughter on "The Leftovers," Margart Qualley, is also working on a sci-fi project. The Hollywood Reporter cites that she will in the movie "IO," which will be launched on Netflix globally. The cast and crew are already in France for the principal production.

Jasmin Savoy Brown, who joined "The Leftovers" in Season 2, will be doing a period drama for her next work. According to Deadline, she has been cast in the TNT series "Will," which stars Laurie Davidson. The show is about the life of a young William Shakespeare.

The return of "The Leftovers" on HBO has no confirmed airing date yet. It is expected, however, that the show will begin its final season run early next year. Parent Herald reports that the ideal schedule for "The Leftovers" Season 3 premiere would be anywhere between the months of January to April.

"The Leftovers" Season 3 will only have eight episodes, as creator Damon Lindelof previously announced. It won't attempt to answer the missing pieces, such as the fate of the departed. It will be addressing how the remaining characters - the leftovers - will be moving on with their lives.
