'Fantastic Beasts' News And Updates: Who Will Be The Next Dumbledore? The Casting For The Young Albus Has Begun!

David Yates, the director of "Fantastic Beasts," has already confirmed the actor who is set to play Gellert Grindelwald in the upcoming second installment of the film franchise. Yates confirmed that it is going to be Johnny Depp who is going to play the role of Gellert Grindelwald. Alongside Depp, the "Harry Potter" story continues as the casting for the young Dumbledore is already open.

After the release of the footage of "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them," speculation has roamed around that Grindelwald will have a role in the upcoming film alongside his frenemy, Dumbledore, according to Vanity Fair. Albus Dumbledore's best friend was the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald until Gellert became the future Hogwarts headmaster enemy.

During the past Harry Potter films, the young Grindelwald was played by Jamie Bower and Michael Byrne. For the upcoming "Fantastic Beasts 2," Grindelwald will be played by Johnny Depp. Now that the casting for Grindelwald is filled, the next to watch out for is the actor who will fill the shoes of the young Dumbledore in "Fantastic Beasts 2" and potentially the next installments of the franchise.

Yates added he finds Depp interesting and special to play Grindelwald in "Fantastic Beasts 2."

Director Yates and producer David Heyman has officially announced that they are open to casting suggestions for the young Albus Dumbledore. Heyman and Yates have added that it will not be Michael Gambon, who took over for Richard Harris. The director and producer also confirmed that aside from Paris, the UK will also be a part of the second "Fantastic Beasts."
