‘The Killing Floor 2’ Golden Streak In PS4 And Steam Could Be The Year’s Surprise Multiplayer FPS Killer?

"The Killing Floor 2" is making itself visible within the FPS community. The surprising early access sales number may have killed the other FPS titles, even before the game's scheduled release on Nov. 18.

"The Killing Floor 2," not to be confused with the 2007 film or the rock band with the same title, is currently making waves within the Steam and PlayStation community. A recent report from DualShockers states that TripWire and Deep Silver announced that the game has already gone Gold in PlayStation. The game has also exceeded over 1 million units sold, making it the top-selling Early Access Titles ever to release on Steam.

"The Killing Floor 2" is a sequel to 2009's "The Killing Floor," which was developed for the Windows, OSX and Linux. The very first version was designed as a "MOD" for the Unreal Tournament 2004. The first "Killing Floor" eventually became Steam's top selling game and has received several recognitions like the Best PC Shooter of 2009 and the Best PC Game Expansion and Overall Best PC Game by Voodoo Extreme's Reader's Choice Awards.

The new installment still utilized its predecessor's theme, Bullets, Blood and Blades. "The Killing Floor 2" runs on a system called M.E.A.T., which means Massive Evisceration and Trauma. It enhances the game's dynamic gore and violence. PC Gamer calls it the "FPS Horror with the most advanced Gore System." Munk, Tripwire's co-founder, described "The Killing Floor 2" as "A simple Game. You have weapons. You see Something that's messed up and you kill it... and that 'The Killing Floor 2' is still a simple game, only this time it looks good."

"The Killing Floor 2" is one of those games that don't have a creative storyline. It only has one objective, which is killing. What "The Killing Floor 2" lacks in storyline was compensated by hours of fun and its realistic approach towards the horror genre.
