'God Of War' Latest News, Update, & Release: Kratos' New Companion, Enemies; Gameplay Changes & 'GOW' Info Round Up

More than a decade has passed, yet Sony's exclusive "God of War" remains to be one of the most anticipated video games. The franchise loosely based on Greek mythology will have its new beginnings as it launches its fourth title, still to be called "God of War," and it will offer plenty of features as Kratos goes on a journey with his son. Here are the details known so far with "GOW" developed by Sony Interactive's Santa Monica Studio.

First off, "God of War" protagonist will be accompanied with a new lad. According to Digital Spy, it appears that he is Thor, the Nordic god of thunder. Based on his ability to fire an arrow-like lightning, Kratos is getting an extra hand for himself through his son, not unless he gets into a fit of rage whenever the kid messes up.

Santa Monica Studio has sought to bring more gameplay changes for the sake of a new and better "God of War" experience. Cory Barlog, Sony Santa Monica Studio's Creative Director, said via a PlayStation Blog that they wanted to reimagine the gameplay of "God of War," freshen up players' perspective of it while tugging Kratos' heartstrings as he creates a bond with his son.

Hence, Kratos should be learning how to control his rage in the forthcoming "God of War" title. The rage meter will be influenced by how he takes his son's actions, and this will help him make or break good decisions in "GOW."

Further, "God of War" will also be in a whole new setting as Kratos and his son will be taken to explore the Nordic lore. There, the god of strength will embattle several big bads, including an eagle-eyed giant, a humongous snake-speculated to be Norse mythology's Midgard Serpent, and some unconfirmed enemies that the studio is yet to unveil.

No one exactly knows when Santa Monica Studio will be announcing the release date of "GOW." Some players speculate that it won't even be out until after 2017, but others are keeping their fingers crossed and get the game fresh off the shelves as early as possible. Moreover, "God of War" will remain to be to be a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
