'Doom,' 'Overwatch', 'TitanFall 2' And More: Which Title Will Bag Recognitions At The Game Awards 2016? Can Indie Games Overtake Big Titles?

The nominees for the annual Game Awards has been announced. The best of the best has been lined up. This year's game awards is going to be more competitive than ever, due to the fact that there are a lot of indie games in the current list of nominees.

A good place the check would be the nominees for the "Game of the Year" awards, which are the most prestigious among all the awards. The nominees are the following, "Doom," "Overwatch," "Uncharted 4," "TitanFall 2," and an independent game called "Inside." This is the first time since 2014 wherein an independent game was included among the nominees for this category.

"Inside" is the predecessor of "Limbo," which was an Xbox Live Arcade exclusive and overtime was ported to other platforms due to its popularity. "Inside" continues the basic principles set out by "Limbo" from being a side-scroller game up into the dark theme which in "inside's" case is presented in a monochromatic view. "Inside" also premiered in the Xbox console.

Next stop is the "Best Narrative" for those players who enjoys a good storyline. The nominees for this category are the following: "Firewatch," "Inside," "Mafia III," "Uncharted 4: A thief's end," and "Oxenfree."

Another game which captures most gamer's attention is "Oxenfree." This is another indie game that's worthy of acknowledgment. "Oxenfree" dwells on the supernatural mystery video game genre. The game is also presented in a 2.5D platform and a script written by Adam Hines who was the lead writer in Telltale game's "Tales from the Borderlands," based on the list provided by The Game Awards.

Also considered as one of the prestige awards is the "Most Anticipated Game." This category is composed of big titles announced within the year which is currently in development. The nominees for this includes: "God of War," "Horizon Zero Dawn," "Mass Effect: Andromeda," "Red Dead Redemption 2," and "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Fire." The nominees for this category alone ensures that 2017 is going to be a great year for video games.
