'Game of Thrones' Season 7 Air Date, News & Update: Premiere Date Moved!; 'The Winds of Winter' Release Date Pushed Back Too?

The wait is NOT yet over and it seems that the "Game of Thrones" fans will have to wait a little longer as the much awaited Season 7 will debut on summer of 2017. In addition to the sad news about its release date being moved, it is also said that the 'Game of Thrones' Season 7 would only be seven episodes compared to its usual ten because of its impending conclusion.

According to iDigitalTimes, it has been a tradition of the "Game of Thrones" series that it premieres during spring but with Season 7, it would be different. They have opted to move the date because of shooting schedules and shooting locations as it will play a vital role on the feel of the season. HBO also confirmed that the cast and crew are set to go to Iceland to film for the series, a location that has not been used since Jon Snow was north of the wall with the wildlings including Northern Ireland and Spain.

Disappointment just does not stop there for "GoT" fans because as reported by The Christian Times, the sixth "ASOIAF" book will also be delayed and in fact will not make it by early 2017. "GoT" fans have been expecting that at least "The Winds of Winter" will be on their shelves before the "Game of Thrones" Season 7 debuts but reports say that author George R.R. Martin is having a bit of a problem writing the book.

Upon hearing about George R.R. Martin not being able to finish the book yet, expectant "Game of Thrones" fans speculate that the author had a lot of downtime because of his support for Hillary Clinton in the last US Presidential Elections, which he was very vocal about and that maybe he also got depressed like the other supporters when Trump won the elections.

But in one of George R.R. Martin's blog entries, as if to shed light on the issue, the author admitted that he was not yet done with "The Winds of Winter" book and is having a bit of a struggle finishing it. GRRM also said that as his editors, publishers, and HBO is disappointed, he himself is greatly disappointed in himself for not being able to deliver on time and is doing his hardest to finish the book.
