'iZombie' Season 3 Premiere Date Announced: Disappointed Viewers Worry About Cancellation, Rob Thomas Talks Show's Status

The CW has announced the premiere date of "iZombie" Season 3. The show will be back on the network on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, with a two-hour debut at 8 p.m. But the long wait for the show's return has some viewers disappointed.

This has led some fans to speculate that the scheduling hints of "iZombie" being on its way to cancellation. Show creator Rob Thomas has addressed those cancellation rumors.

"iZombie" Season 3 has been filming since the beginning of the fall season. With only 13 episodes expected, as reported on TV Insider, fans thought that production should be halfway done at this time. A batch of episodes should be ready to air by January 2017.

Fans were disappointed, however, when The CW placed "iZombie" Season 3 in the spring schedule. "I don't know why The CW is putting this show on the back burner when it's one of the best shows on the network," one fan said on Reddit. "Probably gonna get canceled after this season," another fan posted on the IMDb message board.

But perhaps to appease viewers' worries, Rob Thomas shared a post on his Twitter, which was made by a TV scribe who justified the April premiere for "iZombie" Season 3. "They're still giving it post-#TheFlash timeslot," the writer said on Twitter. "Don't think we should read more into it than lack of room."

This is not the first time Rob Thomas has addressed "iZombie" Season 3 cancellation rumors. According to Comic Book, the executive producer also called out a report that hinted the show is a goner. Rob Thomas reiterated that the series is in a good place based on viewers and critics reviews. In other words, "iZombie" isn't likely going off the air after Season 3.

Meanwhile, following the two-hour premiere of "iZombie" Season 3, the show will settle on a Tuesday 9 p.m. timeslot towards the end of the 2016-2017 TV season in June. Keep checking back to this site for more updates about the show.
