‘Divergent: Ascendant’ Cancellation News, Update: Shailene Woodley, Theo James Feud Fueled Dismissal Of Film? New Actress To Take Tris Role?

"Divergent: Ascendant" has been confirmed for cancellation as Lionsgate opt to create a TV series out of the franchise. However, fans of Shailene Woodley and Theo James may not be happy to know that their favorite screen couple Tris and Four will no longer return for the series. In addition, rumors claimed that actress Woodley is the reason behind the cancellation of the highly anticipated "Divergent" film installment.

"Divergent: Ascendant" TV series is speculated to see a new actress to portray the role of Tris as Woodley reportedly withdrew from the franchise. Because of her departure, the producers are now looking for a new actress to pair with actor James which apparently makes her fiance Ruth Kearney happy. The reason behind is that James and Woodley's relationship in the past films became too close that it already affected Kearney's relationship with the "Divergent" actor, Latin Post reported.

"Divergent: Ascendant" producers, however, have not confirmed whether or not James will still join the show. James has also not released any statement that confirms her appearance on "Divergent: Ascendant" TV show as of this posting. The rest of the film cast has also not announced their participation on the plans of turning "Divergent" film series into a TV series.

However, previous reports claimed that the reason why "Divergent: Ascendant" will be turned into a TV show is the slide of the ratings of its third movie installment. As per Parent Herald, "Divergent's" ratings are not doing well and there are fears that it may not hit a box office. Lionsgate's move to turn the film to a Divergent: Ascendant TV series apparently gives the franchise hope to gain more viewers.

"Divergent: Ascendant" TV show is rumored to be a spin-off that will feature younger or older versions of the characters from the original movie if the stars will back out from the project. Fans are advised to take the speculations and rumors in this news article with a grain of salt as nothing has been confirmed about the show's plot yet. In the meantime, let us know what you think about turning "Divergent" film into a TV show.
