Apple Launches Official iPhone Battery Repair Program For Free; Limited to iPhone 6s Models Only?

Apple recently announced an official iPhone battery repair program. This is after a number of complaints against the Cupertino-based tech giant regarding the battery draining faster than usual in iPhone 6s models or switching off early and the 30% bug in iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, and iPhone 5s models including the latest iOS 10 update.

According to a previous report, the iPhone battery problem was suspected to be due to a bug in the latest iOS 10 update, which required a reboot of the unit in order to remedy the issue. The problem in iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, 6, and 5s models was that the battery would drain faster than normal, with some units even shutting down even though the battery meter says there is still 30% left.

So, Apple iPhone users would plug, usually, the unit and the battery jumps back to 30% again. Business Insider UK has reported that the Cupertino-based tech giant has indeed acknowledged the battery problem in iPhone 6s. Apple is even offering free battery replacement to units bought between September 2015 and October 2015.

Meanwhile, a Chinese consumer advocacy group is threatening on investigating the unexpected shutdown and other battery problems of the unit. So, in response to this seemingly pressured call made against the Cupertino-based tech giant, Apple officially announced an iPhone battery repair program.

BGR noted to look for the 4th and 5th characters in the serial number of your Apple iPhone unit. If any of the following combinations is in the serial, Q3, Q4, Q5, Q6, Q7, Q8, Q9, QC, QD, QF, QG, QH, and QJ, then the unit is eligible for Apple's the free battery repair program.

However, this solution is only limited to only iPhone 6s models. Other than that, the Cupertino-based tech giant Apple will not be able to help you further.
