“Spectral” Release Date, News, & Updates: Streaming Giant Adds Another Original; Check Out The Trailer Now!

A new addition has been unveiled by the streaming giant as Netflix picked up "Spectral." The battle between Special Ops and supernatural beings will hit TV screens beginning Dec. 9. Meanwhile, check out the trailer below.

In a very unexpected turn out of events, Universal Studios was supposed to release "Spectral" back in August but they never did promote the film. Subsequently, in June, completely took off "Spectral," as quietly as they can, from the schedule. However, there were no official explanations as to the decisions made. This prompted a majority of individuals to think that the "Spectral" movie film was bad.

To think, after the epic box office flop of Universal Studio's "Warcraft" in the US, they maybe are simply playing safe in removing completely the "Spectral" film. Then, came Netflix who picked up the film. Relatively, whether "Spectral" is good or not, Netflix viewers have already paid for it, via their monthly or annual subscription to the streaming giant. This is simply another option for viewers among the number of shows Netflix has.

Netflix's "Spectral" stars James Badge Dale, Emily Mortimer, and Bruce Greenwood and was directed by Nic Mathieu, according to io9. Junkie XL, the musical genius behind "Batman v Superman" and "Deadpool," provided the score for "Spectral." Shooting location was primarily in Budapest, Hungary, per Coming Soon. Not only will "Spectral" feature futuristic weapons created by Peter Jackson's Weta Workshop, but also visual effects by Weta Digital.

ScreenRush noted the full plot synopsis of Netflix's "Spectral": "A brilliant DARPA scientist embarks on a deadly mission with a Special Ops team of Delta Force soldiers into a battle-scarred, war-torn city, where mysterious phantom aggressors code-named Spectral have been causing inexplicable civilian deaths."

Watch the science fiction thriller "Spectral" only on Netflix Dec. 9.
