Toys R Us pulls out Tonka toy truck after burst into flames

A Tonka Ride-On Dump Truck toy has been blamed for the burning of a real-life pick-up truck in Bellingham, Washington, forcing Toys 'R' Us to pull out the said toy truck out of its shelves. The blaze took a long time to extinguish even if the firefighter already doused it with water but luckily no one has been injured in the incident.

Daily Mail said Delmond Harden, who bought the Tonka toy truck for his grandson, placed the toy at the back of the truck when it suddenly ignited. The fire was too powerful it did ot only destroy the toy but the real truck as well.

"Sparks and smoke coming from inside of the box, like fire, it was hot,' said his wife Roxsane Harden. 'I said we gotta pull over, we gotta get out of this truck. So we pulled over, flames start shooting," she added.

CNET said the Dynacraft 12V Tonka Mighty Dump Truck is no longer available for sale at Toys R Us after the toy store stopped selling it as a precautionary measure pending investigation. The toy has a top speed of four mph using a 12-volt battery. It has a charging time of eight hours and can run for 45 minutes.

The Tonka toy truck can still be seen at the website of Dynacraft and even on Amazon and eBay websites, but not at the Toys 'R" Us website anymore . There is an ongoing investigation on the incident but there is as yet to recall of the Dynacraft 12V Tonka Mighty Dump Truck.

But even if the Toys 'R' Us has pulled out the toy truck from its shelves, AOL said the toy company insisted that this was an isolated incident, Toys 'R" Us spokesperson said the pullout of the toy trucks from its shelves was a proactive decision based on caution while it is working with the manufacturer in investigating the incident.
