'Resident Evil 7' Demo Update 'Midnight' Helps Solve Finger Mystery

Capcom has released a new update to the "Resident Evil 7" demo "Beginning Hour" called "Midnight" for PlayStation 4 users over the weekend.

The update has provided an opportunity to solve the mystery of the dummy finger puzzle, which has confused (and annoyed to some extent) several fans ever since the game was released back in June. And one Reddit user has taken it upon himself to demonstrate how it can be solved, according to Yahoo! News.

Reddit user BruhTheShark has listed down a total of 34 steps. Some were specific while some of them were vague. Players will have to start fresh in playing "Resident Evil 7" in order to solve the finger dummy puzzle, and should follow the user's instructions to do so.

The user noted at the end of the list that some players have said they were able to accomplish the puzzle while skipping some several steps. Other players, on the other hand, have claimed that they were unable to solve the puzzle even after following all the instructions listed, leading to the possibility of some copies of their demos having bugs.

The dummy finger puzzle requires the players to complete outrageous tasks to get five creepy sound effects. Once these tasks are finished and the player gets the aforementioned sound effects, they will be allowed to open a room with blood splattered-door, which only has a rocking chair that says, "You're the best ever!"

The player can also get the Dirty Coin item found in the rocking chair, which the player can use in the main game for an Easter egg, according to Eurogamer.

The complete "Resident Evil 7" will be released on Jan. 24, 2017 and will be available for the PC, as well as the Xbox One and Playstation 4 consoles. Xbox One users can start playing the "Midnight" update on Dec. 9, while PC users can get a hand of the update beginning Dec. 19, according to Game Spot.
