‘Collateral Beauty’ Helped Will Smith Deal With His Father’s Death; Learn How!

“Collateral Beauty” is a movie starring Will Smith who portrays Howard Inlet. The film is about Howard’s withdrawal from life because of a tragic incident, which is close to Will’s heart.

The film follows the life of an executive who had experienced a tragedy in his life. The incident made him retreat from life but still tries to connect with the universe. Similarly, Will Smith had just experienced a tragic loss when his father died and, as art imitates life, the film also helped him coped with the incident.

For Howard (Will Smith) people cannot answer and understand what he feels, so he had resorted to the universe. In the film, Howard writes to the universe to find answers.

Fortunately, the universe, in the form of Love, portrayed by Keira Knightley, Death, portrayed by Helen Mirren, and Time (Jacob Latimore) answers him. They’re brought together to answer what Howard has long been looking for; the answer to his loss, E! News reports.

For Will Smith’s personal life, he got the screenplay when his father was diagnosed. “Collateral Beauty” helped him cope up with his father’s diagnosis as he researched about people who had experienced death.

He added that he learned about how people in different religion copes with death. He revealed the experience during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres’s talk show.

His father was given six weeks. However, he lived four months more. Smith added that “every day became so beautiful” for their family, Yahoo reports.

It was both a sad and fantastic experience considering that “art and life come together” to create something meaningful and one of this is “Collateral Beauty.” Indeed, Smith’s journey, both in reel and real life, in “Collateral Beauty” is something everyone had experienced.
