Marvel Vs Capcom News, Details: X-Men, Fantastic Four Heroes As DLC Characters In “Infinite” Installment Next Year

With the next installment to the Marvel Vs Capcom franchise already a done deal, fans are now eagerly waiting for the roster of characters that they will be playing. But while previous reports pointed that the X-Men won't be a part of the game, recent speculations are now saying that Xavier's "gifted" students along with the Fantastic Four will be making their presence felt.

Prior to its PSX debut, word about the crossover fighting game came in a dime a dozen. Included in this flurry tells that the game will rely "heavily" on characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Star-Lord led Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers were teased but ruled out the appearance of the X-Men for the first time since 1994.

This all changed when a number of sources recently pointed to the X-Men and the Fantastic Four as Downloadable Characters, or DLC next year. Segment Next said that only a handful of X-Men characters and Dr. Doom representing the Fantastic Four franchise have made it to consoles "for a long time", adding more to the roster "is likely long overdue." They are, however, considering the bulk of heroes affiliated with the two groups, but looks to The Thing, the Human Torch, Nightcrawler and Cyclops as potential DLC in Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite.

Another source bolstered the news by including NeoGAF member Ryce. The informant said that he was "told with complete certainty" that the two teams will indeed be coming to Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite, and that the decision was a "done deal." Fellow forum mainstay shaowebb also posted a link containing potential playable characters, including longstanding names such as Ryu, Megaman X and Morrigan for Capcom and Ironman, Captain Marvel and Captain America for Marvel's squad. Others meanwhile would like to see Dante (Devil May Cry), Captain Commando, Batsu (Rival Schools), Luke Cage, Thanos, Winter Soldier and Daredevil as "safe bet list" that developers could push in the roster.
