Apple iPhone 8 News & Rumors: Patents Reveal New Technology For Cupertino-Based Tech Giant’s Smartphone

With nearly less than a year to go until Apple iPhone 8 debuts, a number of rumors have popped up. Among these rumors is that the phone will have a curved screen, Apple will remove the home button, and the TouchID sensor will be hidden under the screen. It seems there may be more than what fans might expect.

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) releases regularly patents, allowing the public to get a glimpse of a few of the ideas on what's keeping Apple and other manufacturers busy. The Cupertino giant seems to be busy with "Electronic Devices with Display and Touch Sensor Structures," reports Jack Purcher of Patently Apple.

According to Forbes, although the patent was made public, it does not guarantee that it will indeed be used by Apple for its iPhone 8. Further, the patent doesn't even guarantee that the hardware will, in fact, be manufactured at all.

But when Apple is challenged, it does enjoy it. The simple use of a normal device to create something better that drives the imagination. As the patent describes, we may or may not see touch sensors on the side of the device. Also, the physical buttons like volume control could no longer be visible as embedded touch sensors will take their place. In this, Apple could initially open up new UI paradigms. This could give birth to using the back of the unit for functions such as quick scrolling or page turning.

Whatever Apple has in store for users, iPhone 8 will surely be better than iPhone 7 or 7S. Why else would Apple release a unit so soon?

iTechPost reported that the Apple iPhone 8 may come as Apple celebrates its 10th anniversary, the first time the Cupertino-based tech giant released its first smartphone.
