‘Pokemon Go,’ ‘League Of Legends,’ And ‘Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare’ Are November’s Top Games

The highest earning games of November 2016 have been revealed, and they are familiar names: "Pokemon Go," "League of Legends," and "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare." 2016 proved to be a good year for gaming, with digital games across major platforms expected to fetch almost a hundred billion dollars in revenue.

The digital gaming industry is projected to earn $91 billion in 2016, CNBC reports, based on data from the market research firm SuperData Research. That figure includes earnings from games for mobile, consoles, PCs, virtual reality, eSports, and gaming-focused video content.

In November, when new games were launched, the industry's revenues rose by 13 percent from the previous year to $6.7 billion, according to Venture Beat.

Mobile gaming is expected to be the top earner for 2016, with $40.6 billion in revenues. SuperData Research attributes this to the success of "Pokemon Go," over which many parts of the world went crazy.

"Pokemon Go" was the top mobile game in November. Trailing "Pokemon Go" in the ranking of mobile games are "Monster Strike," "Clash Royale," "Clash of Clans," and "Mobile Strike."

Console games were also a winner in November, with "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" coming out on top of the list of highest earning games. "Call of Duty: Infinite warfare" was November's top console game, followed by "Battle Field 1," "FIFA 17," "Grand Theft Auto V," and "Call of Duty: Black Ops III."

In PC gaming, whose 2016 earnings are expected to reach $35.8 billion, "League of Legends" led the November ranking, followed by "Crossfire," "Dungeon Fighter Online," "World of Warcraft," and the PC version of "Battlefield 1."

The results were not as good for virtual reality, however. VR is projected to earn $2.7 billion, a small figure compared to other gaming platforms. SuperData Research says this was because of the lack of a strong lineup of games and difficulty living up to customers' expectations.
