'Pokemon GO' Updates: Niantic’s Holiday Event Starts On Christmas Day; Bigger Chances To Catch Limited-Edition Pikachu & Generation 2 Pokemon

It is time to go back outside and catch Pokemons as Niantic finally unveiled information regarding the much-anticipated "Pokemon GO" Holiday Event on Friday morning. Niantic Labs will offer more reason to keep on playing the hit mobile game this Christmas.

Niantic will release eggs containing brand new Generation 2 Pokemons. These will include, but not limited to, Pichu, Togepi, Igglybuff and "several other recently found Pokemon" from Johto region. They will be appearing more often at PokeStops beginning Dec. 25 until Jan. 3.

BGR reported that according to Niantic, to easily hatch all the eggs during the "Pokemon GO" Holiday Event, "PokéStops will award one single-use Incubator each day after your first Photo Disc spin." Relatively, that is around 10 free Incubators from Christmas Day until Jan. 3 if you hit a PokeStop at least once a day.

Also, the limited-edition Christmas-hat-wearing Pikachu, who can evolve into a similar festive Raichu, will have higher chances of appearing. This limited edition Pikachu wearing a Santa hat was earlier introduced and was slated to be available only until Dec. 29. But it seems festive Pikachu might stay longer, probably until Jan. 3, according to GameSpot.

Meanwhile, Venture Beat detailed the changes Niantic made and posted in their blog post for the coming "Pokemon GO" Holiday Event. The events for Dec. 25 were earlier mention so let's jump right in for the event on Dec. 30.

There will be a greater chance to catch Ivysaur, Venusaur, and Bulbasaur and Kanto-region starter will be frequently appearing. Higher chances of bagging Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard and Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise. Plus, lure modules will last for 60 minutes instead of 30.

Niantic has certainly ended 2016 with tons of activities for its users, from thousands of PokeStops too Generation 2 Pokemons and the launch of "Pokemon GO" on Apple Watch. They may roll out more for 2017.
