Top Five Best Classic Romantic Comedy Movies, Have You Seen Them All?

This festive holiday season is also a great time for movie marathons with family and friends. Here are the top 5 romantic comedy films of all time.

THE NOTEBOOK. This movie has captured the hearts of many viewers, from different generations. "The Notebook" was released in 2004 with lead stars Ryan Gosling (played the role of Noah Calhoun) and Rachel McAdams (played the role of Allie). Hopeless romantics enjoyed the plot of this movie where the parents of the rich girl Allie did not approve of her romance with the ordinary mill worker Noah. It was tragic that their love story ended when the latter returns from his service in World War II and discovers that Allie is already married.

YOU'VE GOT MAIL. When technology began to flourish, this romantic movie came out in 1998 and tickled the hearts of many. "You've Got Mail" starred Tom Hanks (as Joe Fox) and Meg Ryan (as Kathleen Kelly) as business rivals and ended up as lovers. Their romance started online, from exchange of emails under anonymous identities. The couple fell in love with each other as they began to communicate through emails and talk about their real lives.

WHEN HARRY MET SALLY. Another romantic film starring Meg Ryan (as Sally Albright) together with Billy Crystal (as Harry Burns) was loved by viewers when it hit theaters in 1989. The story starts with Harry and Sally sharing a ride from Chicago to New York after graduating from college. The two argued about the possibility of men and women being plainly platonic friends. Ten years later, the two met again and tried to remain friends without strings attached, despite ending up in bed. The movie also made an iconic love phrase "I'll have what she's having."

PRETTY WOMAN. This phenomenal hit romantic comedy movie featured Julia Roberts (as Vivian Ward) and Richard Gere (as Edward Lewis) and was released in 1990. "Pretty Woman" is another opposite-attracts timeless movie which has wooed the hearts of moviegoers, where Edward, a classy, filthy rich businessman, fell in love with Vivian, a Hollywood prostitute. The song "Pretty Woman" become such a phenomenal hit too.

BRIDGET JONES (THE TRILOGY). According to the list made by Movie News Guide, all three movies of the series have landed on the top spot. The trilogy features Renée Zellweger in the titular role, endeavoring to have control over her life. The movie revolves around how the 32-year-old Bridget decided to direct her own life and began to journal her journey, from discovering men, food, sex and every other detail in between.
