'Lethal Weapon' To Prolong Riggs' Grief Over Miranda Before He Gets Better

It's going to be awhile before Riggs (Clayne Crawford) on "Lethal Weapon" will be able to come to terms with his wife Miranda's (Floriana Lima) death. The detective will still have to get a lot worse than he's already been depicted on the cop drama on Fox. Hope is not lost, however.

"Lethal Weapon" executive producer Matt Miller revealed this fact in a recent interview with TV Line. Before the show went on a hiatus for the holidays, viewer got to watch Riggs spend his saddest Christmas without his wife and their unborn child. He also somehow got this implication that his wife's accident might have been planned and he actually knows who's to blame.

When the show returns on Wednesday, Jan. 4, on Fox, Riggs won't be OK just yet. "We want to drag Riggs a little bit through the mud before he gets better," the EP told the news outlet.

He will remain fixated over his theories regarding Miranda. "That seems to be the anchor around his neck, and it's definitely a thing that drags him down," Miller added.

But the "Lethal Weapon" EP also hints Riggs will have moments where it might look like he's ready to move on from this tragedy. Viewers will have to watch out for these fleeting scenes in the upcoming episodes to see that there's still hope for Riggs' recovery. It's not going to happen at once, but the signs will be there.

Meanwhile, on the show's return, Riggs and his buddy and partner Murtaugh (Damon Wayans) will have to deal with Korean gang members involved in a turf war. The episode, entitled "Homebodies," will feature guest star Lyndon Smith as Owly, Spoiler TV reports.

"Lethal Weapon" was adapted from the movie that starred Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. The show has so far performed well on Fox on its first season. Check back to this site for more about this series.
