'Star Wars' Legend Carrie Fisher Died At 60

Iconic "Star Wars" actress Carrie Fisher who played the role of Princess Leia passed away this morning. The actress suffered a heart attack earlier this week during an 11-hour flight from London to Los Angeles.

Carrie Fisher died at the age of 60, after staying in the hospital for about 5 days. It was mentioned that the actress suffered a heart attack during an 11-hour flight from London to Los Angeles. She was on her way to visit her family during the holidays when she fell ill and was helped by a fellow passenger.

"It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning," a statement from the family spokesman, Simon Halls, stated which was acquired by PEOPLE.

"She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly," Billie Lourd, 24 stated in lieu of her mother's passing. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers."

Disney CEO Bob Iger mentioned that Fisher "will always have a special place in the hearts of Star Wars fans as well as all of us who were lucky enough to know her personally."

At the time of the incident, TMZ was able to get a hold of the recording of the pilot's conversation with the control tower. It was even mentioned that Fisher was unresponsive while she was on the plane as mentioned in the conversation.

"United 935, I need the nature of your medical emergency, and also the sex of the patient and if there is medical personnel at the gate," the recording acquired from the airlines discussed the pilot's conversation with the control tower. "Yeah, we've coordinated medical personnel for the gate, we have some passengers, nurses, assisting the... unresponsive passenger,' the pilot replied. So they're working on her right now, we're going to have her seated in about two minutes and we should hopefully be on the deck in about five."
