Goody Bags: A Sweet Gesture When Flying With A Baby?

Flying with babies on board can be stressful not only for parents but also for the other passengers. Hence, some well-meaning parents share goody bags with their fellow passengers to apologize for the possible disturbances that may be caused by their babies. This may be a thoughtful act but some parents think it is both wrong and unnecessary.

Some parents believe there is no need to apologize to people for having children. Babies cry and people have to live with that. There are fears that this breed of apologetic parents will start a dangerous trend.

Parents should realize they will have lots of opportunities to apologize on behalf of their children. There is also time to teach them courtesy and proper manners.

Parents who travel on the plane with their babies have a responsibility to ensure their babies behave properly, according to Today. But air passengers should not get special treatment just because they could not stand the noise of children. Instead of giving parents a nasty glare when their babies cry, passengers should instead offer a helping hand.

There is another school of thought when it comes to giving out goody bags when traveling on a plane with kids, as per Huffington Post. Parents who know there is a great chance that their babies would have tantrums during the flight can be proactive and distribute goody bags to appease the passengers. The passengers did not sign up to be on the same flight with a noisy kid and giving them little tokens for patience can be a clever strategy to get to their good graces despite the ruckus.

It is easy to tell the other passengers to live with the noise of one's kid. Those who regularly travel know what it's like to bear the noise of a screaming baby for an hour or more, as per Daily Mail. The cost of a goody bag with candies, chocolates or even ear plugs is minimal compared to the goodwill a parent is bound to get out of such kind gesture. This is true even if other parents believe they have a right to impose on other passengers.
