UK Moms Face Nearly 390 Questions Every Day from Kids

Curious toddlers ask their mothers as many as 390 questions every day, reveals a study done in the U.K.

The mothers face more questions than primary school teachers (19) or doctors and nurses (18), every hour, revealed the study conducted by Littlewoods.com. The research found that the most curious in the lot are four-year-old girls.

Nearly a thousand mothers with children between ages two and ten were researched. The study found that they are quizzed every 1 minute 56 seconds by their children on various subjects. It revealed that from morning around 7:19 am to evening 7:59 pm, the average mom is bombarded with questions for 12.5 hours each day.

The mothers are grilled with questions such as 'why is water wet?', 'what are shadows made of?', 'why do we have to go to school?', 'why is the sky blue or where does it end?' and 'how do fish breathe under water?'

The study also found that the type of questions varies with age and gender. However, the questions decline with the children's growing age, although the questions do get difficult. The study found that an average nine-year-old is more satisfied and asks questions every five minutes 12 seconds. This amounts to 144 questions each day, the research stated. Eighty-two percent of the mothers said they found it tough to answer those questions.

Telegraph quoted Emma Edwards, a mother of two, saying, "From the moment my boys wake up they seem to ask questions non-stop. Some of the questions they ask are really bizarre and I wonder what's going on in their heads, like 'what happens if a dog and a cat are sick on a zebra?'.At times it can be tiring trying to answer their constant queries but it is often fun and all part of their growing up and learning about the world they live in."

Gary Kibble of Littlewoods.com said that these mothers have one of the most difficult jobs as they seem to be facing even more questions than the country's Prime Minister David Cameron.

"While mums may struggle to answer some of their children's questions and have to consult the Internet, it shows how inquisitive young children are and how they are constantly wondering about the things around them."
