‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8 News, Update: Elena Is Back In ‘Twilight’ Star Kristen Stewart’s Body?

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 is arriving two weeks from now and fans are just eager to know more details about the upcoming season finale of their favorite vampire series. However, the latest rumor mill surrounding the show suggest that Nina Dobrev will not be able to come back as Elena while "Twilight" star Kristen Stewart is being considered to take the role.

Rumor has it that "The Vampire Diaries" Executive Producer Julie Plec is in search of someone who can replace Elena in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 after reports claimed that Dobrev cannot reprise her role, ChattSportsNet reported. Given Stewart's vampire portrayal in the famous "Twilight" franchise, she may be a good candidate to replace Dobrev. Stewart, however, has not released a statement about the rumor yet.

For fans who wonder how Stewart will appear as Elena, Celeb Dirty Laundry reported that Elena will be jumping into another body and will take the body as her own. To recall, Elena left in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 when she sacrificed herself for her friend Bonnie (Kat Graham). "The Vampire Diaries" antagonist Kai (Chris Wood) casted a spell that linked her life to Bonnie's which caused Elena's body to fall in deep sleep as long as Bonnie stays alive. This could mean that it is still possible for Elena to come back in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview with Plec, she hinted that Elena will be back in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 when she discussed that Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) action could affect Stefan's (Paul Wesley) ability to reunite with Elena, Entertainment Weekly reported. It seems that Elena is already written in the storyline of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 somehow. So, what remains to be seen now is who will be playing the role of Elena this time.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 is slated to return on Oct. 21 on CW. The premiere episode is titled "Hello Brother."
