‘Arrow’ Season 5 Recap, Spoilers: Mayor Oliver Queen Can’t Handle The Job Alone, New Arrow Team To The Rescue

"Arrow" Season 5 premiere episode dealt with Oliver Queen's new role as a Mayor of Star City. However, Mayor Queen is struggling with his duties especially now that Laurel Lance died and Thea Queen and John Diggle just left his Arrow team.

The first episode of "Arrow" Season 5 saw Oliver who was having a hard time fulfilling his daytime duties as a Mayor and being the Green Arrow to keep his city safe. It seems to be a hard job for one man so Oliver ended up running late for meetings and sometimes missed on events as well.

That said, Felicity Smoak tried to convince Oliver to start recruiting some new vigilantes in order to help him in his crime fighting duties. "Arrow Season 5," however, saw Oliver in denial and hesitant to recruit additions to his Arrow team as he was still hoping that Thea and Diggle will come back. But Felicity has already moved on and is now focused on who could join their team.

"Arrow" Season 5 then saw a group of villains led by Tobias Church kidnap Mayor Queen during the unveiling of Black Canary's statue, SF Gate reported. Quentin Lance and Thea then tried to rescue Oliver on "Arrow" Season 5. However, Oliver was already able to free himself from handcuffs and killed the guard. Thea was upset that he killed the man, something that he promised not to do again. However, Oliver argued that it is sometimes necessary.

Meanwhile, Oliver finally agreed to recruit new vigilantes to form a new Arrow team after a flashback from Laurel where she said, " Don't let me be the last Canary.," FanSided reported.  "Arrow" Season 5 then revealed the recruits for the new Arrow team, Curtis Holt and Wild Dog.

"Arrow" Season 5 premiere episode then ended with a new villain in town who also wields bow and arrow and shot one of the Anti Crime Unit cops. The man is definitely not Green Arrow but he has a resemblance to the hero especially that he was also wearing a hood.

"Arrow" Season 5 airs every Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. The next episode is titled "The Recruits."
