'The Leftovers' Season 3 Spoilers & News: Justin Theroux Talks Filming The Ending 'Where Everyone Went'

As "The Leftovers" has wrapped up filming a few weeks ago, its star, Justin Theroux, has since been busy making the press rounds for his other projects. In promoting his latest movie, "The Girl on the Train," the actor expectedly got asked about his HBO TV series, whose third and final season will still air. He talked about filming the ending for "The Leftovers" in a recent interview.

Speaking with Collider, Justin Theroux said that he's not bounded by any conditions about discussing "The Leftovers" Season 3. So, he teased that on the last day of filming, the cast and crew shot scenes "where everyone went."

But the "ginormous spoiler" only elicited laughter since the writers and producers of "The Leftovers" from the beginning said that there will be no closure to what happened to the departed; that it's not the end game for the series. Justin Theroux didn't actually give out any specifics to "The Leftovers'" ending, saying he'd rather have viewers not be spoiled with the details at all.

"The best viewing experiences I've ever had is when you buy a ticket to a movie you've heard nothing about," Justin said. But he understood how details, such as set photos, could come out on the internet. He said that these would only draw out more questions about what's going to happen to "The Leftovers."

Meanwhile, HBO has not yet revealed the premiere date for "The Leftovers" Season 3. Parent Herald previously reported that the series could take over the April 2017 time schedule usually meant for "Game of Thrones."

Justin Theroux also confirms that "The Leftovers" Season 3 will only have eight episodes, as opposed to 10 episodes in the first two seasons. The drama series stars Carrie Coon, Liv Tyler, Amy Brenneman, Margaret Qualley, Chris Zylka, Regina King, Christopher Eccleston, Kevin Carroll, Ann Dowd, Janel Moloney and Scott Glenn.

The final moments of the show take place in Australia as announced in June, Sydney Morning Herald reported. Justin Theroux talked about his experience filming "The Leftovers" in Australia in the below.
