‘Pokémon GO’ Halloween Event In-Depth Strategy & Guide: Gold Medals, Best Buddies To Walk, Most Rewarding Catch

Niantic's "Pokémon GO" Halloween event is in full effect right now. Players are enjoying the abundance of Meowths, Marowaks, and Ghost Pokémon (Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, Zubat, Golbat, Drowzee, and Hypno) in the wild. Strategies and guides, however, are available to make the most out of the "Pokémon GO" Halloween event.

The "Pokémon GO" Halloween event strategy guide came from the app's GamePress site. Players now know that in the Halloween event, which lasts from Oct. 26 until Nov. 1, walking their Buddy Pokémon can earn Candy four times faster. Many "Pokémon GO" players no doubt picked their favorite Pokémon as Buddy, but there are monsters that are more important in this event than the others.

Lapras and Snorlax are the best Buddies to use during the "Pokémon GO" Halloween event. These monsters are hard to find and capture, which makes collecting their Candies challenging. If "Pokémon GO" players want to make their Lapras or Snorlax stronger, they should select them as Buddies and gain Candy for that purpose.

Using the three starters (Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle) as Buddies is also lucrative during the "Pokémon GO" Halloween event. The same can be said for Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Clefairy, and Magikarp if a player wants to acquire a Gyarados.

Players should also watch out for the Pikachu Buddy Easter egg. Unlocking that feature during the "Pokémon GO" Halloween event makes Pikachu sit on a trainer's shoulder. Also, collecting 10 Candies with Pikachu as the player's Buddy only requires 2.5 KM of walking distance instead of the standard 10 KM.

"Pokémon GO" players who have had enough of catching spooky Pokémon during the Halloween event can turn their sights on other monsters. It's best for users to capture Dratini, Exeggcute, Jigglypuff, and Growlithe during the Halloween event and get double the amount of Candy. These Pokémon's evolved forms belong to the game's strongest at the moment.

"Pokémon GO" players can also visit the nests of Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Bellsprout, and Oddish to get more Candies. Those Pokémon can be hard to evolve sans the Halloween event because of their evolution's high Candy costs. Capturing Poliwag, Abra, Machop, Geodude, and Magikarp during the Halloween event is advised, too.

The "Pokémon GO" Halloween event also showcases Gold Medals. Acquiring the item can grant players permanent 1.3x catch bonuses. Gold medals will be given to players who captured 200 spooky Pokémon that belong to the Ghost, Psychic, Ground, Flying, Poison and Normal types.
