Get To Know Halima Aden, The First Muslim-American Woman Contestant For ‘Miss Minnesota USA’ Why She Should Have Won The Crown?

The pageant for "Miss Minnesota USA" just got more interesting with the news that for the first time ever, they have a Muslim contestant. She is Halima Aden, a 19-year old Solima-American lady who chose to wear hijab, a traditional head veil all throughout the competition. Aside from being a Muslim-American, Aden also challenges the usual norm in beauty pageants that requires contestants to wear swimsuits or bikinis.

An article from Fox informs that Halima Aden successfully made it to the pageant's semi-final round even though she chose not to follow some of the rules in the contest. For example, she ignored the usual two-piece clothing and walked the ramp wearing a burkini for the swimsuit competition. A burkini is a body-hugging full-body suit designed to take the place of swimsuits. Aden walked the ramp wearing the burkini.

The beautiful teenager who is also a student at St. Cloud College had a good chance to win the crown for "Miss Minnesota as she definitely catches the attention of everyone. While it is usually so difficult to stand out among a group of beautiful ladies, Halima Aden is surely not easy to miss with her different attire. However, Halima Aden failed to make it to the top five round of the competition.


Nevertheless, Halima Aden who seems wise beyond her years seems to have won another fight. In an interview with Minnesota Radio, she explained her action by saying that she believed the pageant is a great opportunity to showcase her uniqueness and to introduce Muslim ways to the world. She also wishes to break the negative stereotypes some people have with Muslim women.
