Reports say that the scripts for "Avatar 2" have already been completed. However, filming has apparently not started yet. It usually takes two years to produce a blockbuster movie, and knowing how extremely meticulous James Cameron has been with his previous projects, the highly anticipated "Avatar 2" will unlikely be able to meet the projected December 2018 release.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter at the screening of "A Monster Calls" at AMC Lincoln Square, Sigourney Weaver expressed her doubts on the film's 2018 release. The actress confirmed she has already read three of the four sequels' scripts and admitted they have not started filming.

Furthermore, fans can expect more advanced special effects and a grander world of "Avatar." Sigourney Weaver teased that the upcoming "Avatar 2" will be "more extraordinary" than the original movie, which makes her more excited to do the film.

The actress told Cinema Blend that James Cameron has been busy developing the new technology required for "Avatar 2." A lot of experiments have been done to figure out how a particular scene will be shot. Cameron is spending much time to prepare well so filming will be done smoothly once they begin production.
