'A Series Of Unfortunate Events' Premiere Episode To Reveal Lemony Snicket's Secrets, Count Olaf Has A Holiday Message

The man playing Lemony Snicket in Netflix's "A Series of Unfortunate Events," Patrick Warburton, has spilled a few secrets about the show that is set to air on Friday, Jan. 13. As the day draws near, Netflix has been ramping up its promotions of the series and has unleashed a holiday message from Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) as well.

In an interview with Pop Sugar, Patrick Burton said that "A Series of Unfortunate Events" will delve on expanded stories that the 2004 movie didn't deliver. "You actually feel like you're getting the whole book as you watch these," he said.

But he also revealed that in between the stories are a few "surprises." Fans have long speculated that some plots that haven't been resolved in the books could be given closure in the TV show. But for the first season, only four of the books will be covered in eight episodes.

Patrick Burton, however, dished that the crew is already planning "A Series of Unfortunate Events" Season 2. "I know that there's talks and preproduction going on right now," he said. Parent Herald previously reported that the scripts for the second season have been finished and submitted to Netflix.

Meanwhile, Netflix has officially released a new holiday message from ASOUE villain Count Olaf. Neil Patrick Harris, in full Olaf makeup, reminds followers of how much his character abhors children and hints of the count's misdeeds in the video below.

In "A Series of Unfortunate Events," Count Olaf dresses up in disguises to fool the Baudelaire orphans. The actor admits that he has been challenged to play the part because Olaf has to be present in these disguises but the character has to be a bad actor as well.

"So I didn't want to be too good at the disguises and yet if they were not good enough, it would have either made me, Neil, look like a bad actor," he told People.  But he also said that he's not afraid to be embarrassed as Count Olaf. In fact, it might even be necessary and well-deserved for the character.
