Mom of Triplets Dies After Second Hospitalization Due to COVID-19

NBC affiliate KXAS reported that on June 25, AnaLise Long died from complications due to COVID-19 after she got hospitalized twice. She had been fighting the virus for two months and recovered before she died tragically.

Long's brother, Zak Cernoch, told KXAS that the mom of triplets fought as hard as possible. He explained that Long's body was not in a position to recover fully after contracting the coronavirus. More than that, he said that the virus also impacted his sister's other health conditions.

Long got COVID-19

Long's cousin set up a GoFundMe page for her husband, Don "Bubba," and their nine-year-old triplets, Molly, Zoey, and Kate. It stated that the 47-year-old mom's illness started on April 21. She felt a "fainting spell," so she went to a Texas hospital. The staff diagnosed her with COVID-19, and then later, they intubated her.

The outlet said that due to Long's underlying health conditions, the virus took a major toll on her. She had diabetes and surviving spinal meningitis. Even so, she recovered from the disease and got discharged from the hospital. Cernoch told KXAS that Long got off the ventilator sooner than they expected.

Second time at the hospital

The Dallas mother went into a rehabilitation hospital because she needed to learn how to walk again. She was there only for a short time because she faced another major setback in her health. She had to go onto a ventilator again because her kidneys and liver were starting to fail.

Two months after the hospital diagnosed her with COVID-19, on June 25, staff called Long's husband and daughters. It is time for them to say goodbye to Long. Cernoch told KXAS that given her health issues, Long was always a fighter. He said that his sister always tries to beat the odds. He also said that being a mother was the most important thing in Long's life.

Superhero mom

The cousin set up the GoFundMe page in the wake of her tragic death. Long's family will use the collected funds to pay for the immense medical bills that have accumulated. Apart from that, they will also use it to raise three amazing little girls.

The page has raised more than $34,000 within five days. Brandy Chapman, Long's cousin, wrote that Long meant to much to them. He said that she was an amazing sister, daughter, wife, niece, cousin, and friend. He added that Long's greatest accomplishment was her three precious girls.

Chapman also wrote that Long continued to be an amazing mom to her triplets despite struggling with many medical issues. He said that his cousin was a superhero for fighting very hard until the end.

Long's brother's advice to everyone

Cernoch said that Long will always live on through her daughters. He is urging everyone to take the virus seriously as cases continue to increase in Texas. He reminds everyone to keep following the measures as we move on with our lives.
