Ice cream shop owner blasts customers harassing teen workers wearing face masks to work

The ice cream owner of Mootown Creamery called out to the people who were attacking her female teen workers. Angela Brooks, the owner of the ice cream shop in Ohio, wrote her thoughts on the shop's Facebook page.

She said that she had been trying not to say anything, but it got out of control. She asks the customers to stop yelling and slamming doors at the young girls. She also asks that they stop swearing at them and making a scene.

Brooks explained that teen workers are wearing masks for the customer's protection. She said that the girls wear them with a smile because they care about the buyers and their safety. The owner said she required the workers to wear face masks in their store because they wanted to keep the buyers safe.

She explained how hard it is to work during summer while wearing a face mask. The workers have to serve customers lining to the door, others waiting outside, online orders coming through tablets, and the phone ringing off the hook. Adding to that, a customer even threw a temper tantrum in-store calling them "anti-American" or "paranoid."

Teen workers crying

Some even cuss at the girls. Brooks shared that she found a 16-year-old worker crying in the bathroom. She also shared that some of them cry on their way home from work. Now, the owner asks her buyers what they would feel if it happened to their child. She also wants to know if yelling at the girls make them feel better about COVID.

The ice cream owner shared her thoughts about COVID

Brooks admitted that COVID is one of the most awful things everyone has to experience. She knows that the lives of many of us have flipped upside down. She understands that many businesses are closing, and some are still out of work.

She also knows that many are stressed out, worried, and frustrated, but she believes that it is not an excuse to attack her teen workers. She shared that serving ice cream is the first job of most of her girls. She said that they do not have control over our current situation.

Brooks said that everyone is welcome to their store as long as they have respect for them. Mootown serves ice cream and smiles. She advises people who are going out to buy ice cream and puts them into a bad mood; it would be better to stay home.

Buyers could order without wearing face masks

She said that they offer curbside pickup, outdoor and online ordering, phone orders, and delivery to homes. She said that these are the ways to order ice cream without wearing face masks. She wants those customers to not walk into their store and shout at her girls.

Finally, she is thanking all the people who were not "absolute monsters" during this time. She said that they love and appreciate them. They also look forward to seeing them soon.
