Stuntman Proposed to Girlfriend While on Fire to Reward Girlfriend

Riky Ash popped the question to his girlfriend while engulfed in flames. The stunt has left nurse Katrina Dobson speechless, but eventually, she regained consciousness to give sweet yes.

Dobson knew that her boyfriend would be set alight but had no idea of his plans in mind. She thought that it was just a part of a shoot. She thought it was a piece for a nurse in the National Health Service who was looking for love.

The "perfect proposal"

Ash told Dobson that it was a story to make people smile. The nurse who works in the accident and emergency department saw that her beau had his hand in his pocket while he was set on fire. She was alarmed and asked Ash to get his hands out of his pocket. That is when the stuntman took out his proposal ring.

The 48-year-old nurse thought that it was a lovely way to do it. For her, it is the perfect proposal because Ash lives and breathes his job. Ash said that Dobson could not get the word "yes" out because of her shock.

The 52-year-old stuntman did stunts in the Tim Burton blockbuster "Sleepy Hollow." He also played in a series of popular soft drink commercials in the UK as the "Tango Man." He explained that he was so excited to do it because it was like doing a big Hollywood blockbuster and proposing to his beau at the same time.

No one ever did it before

Since he knows people from the stunt industry, he believes that no one has ever done what he did before. The stuntman from Nottingham extended the ring toward his girlfriend, who was watching him engulfed in fire.

Photographer David Sinclair said that the accelerant causes a big whoosh of flame then dies immediately. Their target was for the flame to give the trickster enough time to ask "will you marry me?"

Whirlwind romance

In March, the couple met just before the lockdown happened. Dobson said that what they had was a whirlwind romance. She explained that they went on a date and knew that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. When the lockdown happened, the couple talked on the phone every day for three weeks.

Dobson said that she loves her job at A&E because she loves helping people. But this is the only time she found the right person for her. She could not believe it happened, to the point that she had to pinch herself to make sure she was not dreaming.

The stunt double has been working on many commercials, TV programs, and films for 27 years. He has worked with Richard Burton and Johnny Depo.

Ash explained that he did the dramatic proposal to reward his girlfriend for her hard work. He said that he was lucky to have met Dobson, who is a very modest and hardworking person.

Because of his short stature, 5'3" tall, he became Guinness World Records' "Most Versatile Stuntman" in 2000. He has doubled actors with varied heights, ages, and genders.
