A Three-Year-Old Girl Whose Mom Died Due to Coronavirus Wants to Know When Her Mom Is Coming Home

A three-year-old girl from New York, Leona Gayle, has repeatedly asked her father when her mom is going home.

Leona's dad, Leon Gayle, finds it difficult to answer his three-year-old daughter's innocent question.

Leona's mom, Gabrielle, died in early April due to the coronavirus.

The question might have been challenging for the dad to answer, but every time his daughter would ask, he finds the courage and the patience to explain everything to the three-year-old girl.

The battle against coronavirus

According to a report from People, both Leon and Gabrielle contracted the coronavirus in March.

They were exposed to the virus, along with other relatives.

Leon quickly recovered from the virus. However, his wife, Gabrielle, suffered a much worse condition. The mom of the three-year-old Leona was six months pregnant during that time.

In the last week of March, Gabrielle was rushed to the hospital. She was also put on a ventilator a few days after.

It was not only Gabrielle's lungs that started to fail, but even her kidneys as well; thus, the need for dialysis.

In an interview with CNN, Leon mentioned that they were always informed by the hospital that they prioritized between Gabrielle and their unborn child.

Because of the risk that Gabrielle might lose so much blood, the family always chose not to deliver the baby.

After four weeks of trying to get well in the hospital, the mom succumbed to death.

In support of the three-year-old girl's endeavors

Even at a young age, Leona has been modeling and acting. Her mom was her agent.

When Gabrielle died, a GoFundMe page was created to support Leona's future endeavors.

According to the page, Leona already had a chance to model and act in the past. Since Gabrielle has been very supportive about it, the organizer thought it would be nice if Leona can continue her acting and modeling.

As of writing, the campaign has already raised almost 5,000 US Dollars.
