Florida 911 Dispatcher Revives Baby and 71-Year-Old Man That Stopped Breathing

Within an hour, a Florida 911 dispatcher revives a baby and a 71-year-old man who has stopped breathing. People now hail her a hero because she was able to save lives within her shift.

On September 6, McKenzie Davis resuscitates two people in one hour. According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, she gave CPR instructions over the phone. Davis received the first call at around 3:33 PM.

The baby had stopped breathing

Authorities said in a press release that a frantic mother reported that her six-month-old baby had stopped breathing. Quickly, Davis calmed the mother down then walked her through CPR guidelines.

Counted aloud over the phone

Officials said that she counted aloud over the phone so that the mom could do the compressions at a proper speed. Based on the sheriff's office, after a full round of CPR, the infant began breathing and moving again. Then medics moved the child to a children's hospital for further observation.

Davis' shift was not over yet when she received another emergency call. In a separate incident, she helped another victim that stopped breathing. Another woman called the 911 dispatcher at around 4:38 PM.

Officials said that the caller reported her husband not breathing in a swimming pool. Once again, Davis jumped into action calming the distressed wife. Then, she instructed her to get her husband out of the water.

Gave CPR instructions

Authorities said that while there were other family members in the area, no one was trained to do CPR. They were only able to bring the man to land. Davis asked the women to put the phone on speaker as she gives instructions to revive the man.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office said that family members took turns in doing compressions. Davis directed them until deputies arrived at the scene and took over. When the medics arrived, they found that the victim had a strong pulse.

They transported the man to the nearby hospital. According to officials, they expect full recovery of the man. Rick Staly, Flagler County Sheriff, said in a statement that 9-1-1 is the number to call during your darkest hours.

Staly said that no matter what situation you are facing, the voice on the other end of the line could help you through. He added that Davis not only was able to calm the distressed family of the victim but was also able to give clear instructions for them to follow.

Staly also said that the 911 dispatcher has already saved four lives this year. He also said that Davis is a great partner with their deputies in the field because she is a true hero.

Davis told "The Daytona News-Journal" that she returned to the switchboard soon after reviving the man. She said that she takes her time after those kinds of phone calls. She explained that she has to re-gather herself and be there for the next person who needs her.
