Unlikely Duo of a Toddler and a Skeleton Toy Is Warming Hearts on Social Media

An unlikely duo of a two-year-old and his 5-foot tall skeleton is now warming hearts on social media.

Theo has recently developed a liking to a Holloween decoration, and his mom has been very supportive, especially that the pair has been making so many people smile wherever they went.

How everything started

Abigail Brady, Theo's mom, told TODAY Parents that everything started last September 15. They were preparing to go to a local reservoir for some outdoor activity. Brady went to their basement to put their dog in the kennel; then she stopped to clean the basement first before they head out to the reservoir. Until she heard her son cry out, "Mom, mom, help, help."

To her surprise, she saw Theo trying to carry the skeleton up the stairs which she found so funny. And so she brought the decor upstairs and thought that it wouldn't matter, she'll just decorate early for the Holloween. But Theo had other plans: he wants the skeleton to come along with them to the reservoir.

Brady said that Theo just would not get in the car unless they bring the skeleton. Well, it is not that big, and it is not that big of a deal, she thought. So they brought the skeleton with them, and judging from their adorable TikTok video, the unlikely pair had a blast.

In the video, Theo is seen sitting in the car seat at the back of the car with the skeleton that they named "Benny" - after the "Halloweentown" character - secured with a seat belt. Then the boy could be seen playing with Benny, twisting its head backward at one point before pushing it down the slide.

That started Theo and Benny's friendship, and since then, the skeleton has been coming with them wherever they would go. And Brady would share the duo's adventure on TikTok and Instagram.

"Watching Nightmare Before Christmas for the 10th time this week," she wrote on one of her Instagram post with a photo of Theo and Benny watching the Halloween classic. "It makes me so happy to see him so obsessed with this movie."

Brady said that Theo would demand that Benny is in the bedroom with him while he sleeps. At first, she didn't like the idea and tried removing Benny, but Theo refused. So she put the skeleton back and placed it on Theo's rocking chair. In another video post, she wrote, "Theo climbed up onto the rocking chair all by himself and insisted on reading Benny a bedtime story." "Benny has been coming everywhere with us. He even stays in his room at night."

One time, they brought Benny with them on a grocery trip and had him ride beside Theo in the cart, to the delight of everyone in the store. She said that she is glad that Theo and Benny are bringing joy to other people.

The year 2020 has probably been one the craziest years, she said, and it brought a lot of "turmoil and hardship." She hopes that Theo and Benny can spread happiness and make somebody's day for at least a couple of minutes.
