Woman Receives Birthday Card from Mom Who Already Died in 2018

An Ohio woman, whose mother died in 2018, received a birthday card from her. The woman was shocked to know that the birthday card had been written even five years ago.

Katrina Jones, whose mom died years ago, said that she was surprised when the card arrived in her mailbox. She was even more shocked when she realized that the letter was delivered after 5 years and so she asked, "to what do I owe this honor?"

Imagine how it surprised her more when she saw and read the return address not to mention the penmanship on the card. 

Jones received a long-lost birthday card on Thursday from her mother who passed away in 2018 when she checked her mailbox during her lunch break. The envelope that contains the birthday card was postmarked June 20, 2015.

Jones said on her LinkedIn page that it took five and a half years for her to receive a birthday card and note from her mother. She even said that the message was just right on time.

Receiving the card

Just then, Jones confirmed that the return address was from her mother, upon receiving and opening the envelope. Aside from that, but she also confirmed that the handwriting was also from her beloved mother.

The Ohio woman found a note inside the birthday card from her mother quoting a Bible verse from Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you hope and future."

People might think that this sounds like a scene out of a movie like P.S. I Love You, but Jones said that it feels like a gift from God.

Before the incident

Jones said that she does remember many years ago and she thinks that it is safe to say that it must have been 2015, where she recalls her mom asking her if she happens to receive a card from her.

The Ohio woman said that she and her mother, later on, forgot about the said birthday card. Now, years after her mom died, the message has more meaning. Having the card years after it was supposed to be delivered, Jones said that she appreciates the birthday card that she got from her mom more than ever.

Jones shared that someone at work told her that maybe it was not meant for her to receive the birthday card before because it was meant for her to receive it now.

Moments and scenes like these are surely one of the most memorable times that one could ever have. More memorable because it was made possible by those who left this world and are far long gone. Such instances make people want to believe, and to continue believing that their loved ones are still looking out for them, even after they passed away.
