Nicknames are meant to help people remember easier. Also, these nicknames are sometimes coming out of surprise or it shortens actual names.

When babies are not born yet, people give the unborn baby a nickname. However, some Reddit users think that there are nicknames that should not be considered as cute. Parents even think these nicknames are cringy.

Squish or squishy

This nickname was the first entry to the bunch of other nicknames that were commented in a thread on Reddit that tackles hated nicknames. 

According to the Reddit user who posted it, she finds using these terms as something that drives her crazy.

Bub

This cringy nickname got so much agreement from Reddit users. One user said, "I think it reminds me too much of "hubby" for husband."

Another Reddit user said, "I'm with you on this one, I also really do not like "bub". Every midwife and obstetrician I saw said it, drove me potty."

What makes this nickname more unacceptable for another netizen is when people use it in the plural form, "I dislike it, even more, when someone refers to my baby as bubs (usually on the Internet)."

Littles

In the Reddit thread, although the user who shared this cringy nickname did not give any sort of explanation, netizens were quick to agree. One user said, "I think because it often comes from the stereotypical perfect mom-blogger type that I try to avoid like a plague."

Other Reddit users also expressed how much they do not like calling babies "Littles." They said, "I feel so creeped out every time I read/hear this."

Bean, Little Bean, Peanut

For one Reddit user, this nickname just drives her crazy. According to the netizen, she just feels lucky that no one she knows uses those words to refer to their babies. The Reddit user said, "I hate bean, little bean, peanut for the baby! It drives me crazy! Luckily no one in our circle has used those words."

Another user shared how she also disliked using the nickname peanut, "I've never been a fan of peanut."

In the same Reddit thread, there were other nicknames that netizens hated so much. These other nicknames do not refer only to babies. Some of these nicknames are:

  • Hubby for husband
  • Blankey for blanket
  • Ninnies for boobs
  • Paci, lovey, or binky for pacifier
