A father and son artists from Denver open an exhibit of their quarantine artworks.

Dan Ericson, who is also known as "The Signtologist," and his 6-year-old son Omen worked together to put up an art show in Denver.

The father and son artists' exhibit was held at Hazel at South Pearl.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Omen was forced to stay at home and attend classes online. This circumstance meant that his father was also able to spend more time with him.

The good thing about this is that it opened the opportunity for them to create quarantine artworks together. In an interview with 9News, Dan shared "It is special just being able to spend time together and create something at the same space at the same time."

The dream to do a show together

As a father and an artist himself, Dan has long been dreaming to put up a show with his son. He said, "At some point, I always wanted to do a show with Omen."

What made Dan realize that this dream is not impossible was when he saw his first artwork of his son, "From the time he did his very first piece, I had thought 'Oh, this would be great if I could maybe do a show with him.'"

However, the Denver artist, "The Signtologist," never thought that it would be as early as this time when his son is only six years old.

The dad and son artists' exhibit

Aside from being able to create quarantine artworks during the pandemic, Dan also thought that this a perfect time to show their creations. He said, "The way that COVID is affecting businesses and galleries like this, it seemed like a good time to pitch this to the curator."

When he asked the curator of Hazel, he mentioned how their works could be a breath of fresh air for everyone. He told the curator, "This could be something different and something a little more uplifting than your typical just art on the wall type of show."

Aside from sharing what kept them busy during quarantine, the Denver dad also said, "Hopefully, bring some of the joy that we experienced during the creation process to the people viewing it. Because it's kind of hard to find that silver lining these days."

Family comes first for the father and son artists from Denver

Despite sharing the same love for the arts, the father and son duo firmly believes in the importance of family. Omen says, "Family is more important than work."

For the Denver dad, he acknowledges that family is important. However, if there's one thing that the pandemic has taught him, it's that "Family is more important than work but it is also important to work together as a family in times like these."
